Volunteer Work

I know that there are a lot of people in this class that are interested in ASL so if you want some volunteer work I have a great opportunity for you( I LOVE volunteer work) . There is an organization in Lexington called "Hands Alive." Children from central KY who are deaf or hard of hearing come to a church in Lexington to socialize and interact with other children whom are deaf or Heard of hearing. It is really fun and you don't really have to know a lot of signs. I volunteered with them when I was taking ASL 101 and I did just fine. There are great people there to help with signs you might need to know. I will try and attach a picture of the flyer that I have for it.

Observation

Does anybody know if were aloud to use an observation from another class that were taking this semester instead of doing another one for this class?

Tip for future tests

When you copy and paste the test to word make sure you do the individual questions. I copy and pasted the entire thing, got a dialog box for each question. Thought cool I will just type all my answers into the dialog box and then copy and paste it to BB. Nope, it will not allow you to copy and paste from those dialog boxes, so I had to retype all of my answers. Not a fun time. So just a little fyi for you.

Communication

This is a video/red bull commercial of a young girl who is deaf, but is also a X-game gold medalist. At the end of the video she signs welcome to my world, the world of red bull. I just found it to be a great video showing a type of communication.

Well I guess that the joke I posted wasn't too funny, and looking back it was a pretty insensative. For that I am sorry.
--Message recieved Jessica Lykins, but trust me you have no idea who or what I am! I am human just like you and we all make mistakes. Thank you for pointing out the flaw in my judgment to post that joke. I had not reflected on how that could be hurtful to someone and I can assure you it wasn't meant to be. Lesson learned...for that I am grateful.

While taking the exam, I did run into some misunderstandings that I didn't think I would have when we went over the questions in class. However; it takes pure talent to be able to teach a lesson and explain a question thoroughly though a text message! I have never had a teacher/professor who was able to explain a question that well through a message before. If you had trouble, and didn't ask her for help, next time I strongly encourage you to do so! The responses were quick, and also really made you think.

This is pretty funny!

I copy and pasted the test into ms word. It was a little ticky putting it into a neat and printable format but I did manage to do so. I thought it would be awsome if I could just post a printable version on the blog so everyone could just print it, but I don't know if it can even be done.

If anyone knows if it can be done and how to do it I would be happy to post it.

Fall?!?

It's hard to believe that this month is half gone already! I really wish this weather would make up it's mind already! 2 days 80s, 4 days 60s, 1 day rain. I can't take it! Just decide (yeah, like KY will ever do that)! But I am so ready for apple cider, pumpkins, and crunching the fallen leaves (oh and my birthday). What are you all excited for?

I observed a Special Education class today, and I had the most amazing time. I am really looking forward to teaching on a daily basis. It was the best group I have ever observed, and we had so much fun!! Awesome day!

We Will Never Forget!

Reading Response

Under the assignments tab on blackboard is the Reading Response and I was just wanting to see if anyone knew how to access the two links on which form to complete our response? We can choose from either the Article - Narative Response OR the Double Entry Notes Article Response ., but I can not get either to open. Thanks!

Okay, so not only is this the same kind of thing that we've been talking about, but the voice its self is pretty great too. And on a side note, this is an awesome book. I highly recommend it!
